Alberto Rodriguez has been a Law Clerk at the office since 2000. His primary responsibilities are to make the initial contact with potential clients and answer requests for legal assistance from the ever increasing Illinois prison population. For 16 years he was represented by the People’s Law Office as a Puerto Rican Political Prisoner incarcerated for his pro-independence activities. The office represented him and others during various state and federal criminal cases that took place throughout the 1980’s. The office was an integral part of a 2 decade long struggle to achieve the freedom of Alberto and many of the Puerto Rican Political Prisoners in federal custody. In the late 1970’s he worked with the office as a community organizer in the Cruz-Osorio police killing case in which the office represented the families of two unarmed Puerto Rican men who were killed in cold blood by the police during the Puerto Rican Day festivities.
