John L. Stainthorp represents plaintiffs who have been wrongfully imprisoned, falsely arrested or subjected to excessive force by police officers, or who have been injured in other personal injury cases, as well as representing criminal defendants charged with death penalty offenses. He has been doing this type of work for over 25 years, and recently won a $9,000,000 jury verdict against the City of Hammond on behalf of a man falsely imprisoned on a rape charge. He handles all stages of litigation, from trial preparation through trial and appeal. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, where he helped win two landmark civil rights decisions, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and in Illinois and New York.
